Tools You Can Trust

Formed in 1982 by Ben Stedman and Rob Ward, TYCT played their first gig at the John Bull club central Manchester and released their first single Working and Shopping on Red Energy Dynamo in May 1983. The single was picked up by John Peel and this led to a distribution deal with the Cartel and their first Peel session.

Two further singles followed and these were featured in the film Sharpen the Tools, directed by Martin Herring and edited by Peter Hewitt.  Original, passionate and iconoclastic pop with an edge and a sense of humour.

The live set was released as the first album, followed by a studio LP 'Again Again Again' and a further single.  These contain a rich and varied set of songs with lyrics that defined a period in British political life.

The band settled on a line up including Jill Richardson and Steve Marshall but sadly did not record any more material at the time. There is now the promise of both new and missing releases to come.
